This is the 3rd Fundraising Concert WA Classical Guitar Orchestra (WACGO) has presented to support the Perth Homeless Support Group, a cause that is dear to our hearts.

The Training Orchestra will be playing a variety of well-loved pieces from the classical music tradition ranging from the court of Elizabeth the First of England through to popular music of Spain and South America. These works have been arranged by director Peter Altmeier-Mort and brilliant Australian composer and educator, Richard Charlton.

WACGO will present original and evocative music by Australian composers Malcolm Perris, Clive Lane and Paul Svoboda, opening with a Daydream, (Malcolm Perris) living the drama of Bushfire and Flood (Clive Lane) that threaten our land and closing with an exhortation to work hard in the final piece – “If you want to find gold, you’ve got to crush some rocks.” This piece is a rock song in every sense of the term.

Paul is a very well-established guitar composer, who was in Perth recently as co-adjudicator of the WA Classical Guitar Ensemble Festival, the only such festival in Australia. Clive Lane is a Sydney composer who is making his mark as an upcoming and very original talent. Malcolm Perris plays in the first guitars in WACGSO and his piece is very evocative –imaginative, peaceful and fascinating to play and direct.

There is also an Italian twist with a wistful Scarlatti piece, Sonata in B minor, which is sublime in complexity! There will be an intermission with sumptuous wine and food available at the concert.

Bring your family, friends and loved ones as we share the gift of music and a fine afternoon with you!
