Described as ‘a gift to the world of music’, Russian-born classical guitarist Vladimir Gorbach is internationally acclaimed for his outstanding musicality and brilliant virtuosity. He has won first place in ten of the world’s top guitar competitions, including the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. After studying in Russia, Germany and the USA, Gorbach moved to Australia in 2015 to teach at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he now leads the guitar department. He also performs as part of the celebrated New Zealand Guitar Quartet. For this concert, Gorbach will play selections from Piazzolla’s Estaciones Portenas, JS Bach’s Suite in C minor BWV 997 (Prelude and Fugue), and Manuel Ponce’s Schubert-inspired Sonata Romantica.
